An ongoing manga in Hana to Yume by Takaya Natsuki, as well as a completed 26 episode anime, Fruits Basket is the story of a girl, Honda Tohru, who has recently lost her mother in an car accident. Not wanting to impose on her friends and unable to stay with the rest of her family due to other complications, she decides to set up a tent in the wilderness and take it from there. However, she accidentally finds that she's been squatting on the land owned by the Souma family; Souma Yuki belongs to this family and he's known as the "prince" at her school. Yuki, staying with his relative Shigure, decide to allow Tohru to live in their house with them. Yet things are complicated when Yuki's long-time rival, Kyou, shows up. However, even worse, Tohru soon stumbles onto the secret of the Souma family--they're cursed by the spirited of the Chinese Zodiac! And whenever a cursed member is hugged by someone of the opposite sex, they are temporarily transformed into the animal of the Chinese Zodiac that they represent. [ Review @ Anime Appetizers ]
