10/06/2003 Entry: "Life, and it sucks"

Well, yes, it's me, the person who blogs bi-weekly now.

Just think of it this way: it's no more often than when we got our homework back from Beidelman.

*edit* I took this off of someone who commented on Christina's blog. I was very amused. (Not hard these days.)

Kinetic Ytterbium Lifeform Assembled for Repair and Assassination

Yep, that's me. What the heck is Ytterbium?

At any rate, after last week's horrors, this day was pretty good. I got a B on my essay for Thomson, got an A on my two quizzes for Spanish, got an A+ on my short answers for The Crucible (how nice, I get to jack up the curve), another A on the vocab quiz, and got a B+ on my multiple choice questions for our favorite Salem play as well. Oh, yeah, and I got a C+ on my Calculus quiz, and you have no idea how happy this makes me after the grade I got on last week's test.

Which is really pathetic, but I'm not dwelling on it.

On English, I find it amusing that half my class got number one on the sentence fill in wrong. Yes, it's a dubious honor to be called the king of tardies, and utopias are ephemeral. Justin tried to convince Mrs. Grogan that yes, utopias are doubtful (dubious), but since when has it been a fleeting honor to be king of tardies? Note that one of the reasons I'm arguing this is because I got the questions right.

At any rate, I'll spend some time studying away for history tonight - we have a midterm tomorrow, which I'm not really too worried about (the man lectures really well), but I'll study for a while anyway..

Well, in more interesting news (to me, anyway), the actress for Professor Trelawney has been cast. Actually, it's really one of the last people I ever would have thought for this part, but I think she'll do good ^^ I admire her as an actress (haven't seen much of her work though) and heard she did a brilliant job in Sense and Sensibility. It is, of course, Emma Thompson, as http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org announced earlier. I think this is cool ^^ I dislike Trelawney, but she's not really a dislikeable character, and heaven knows the Harry Potter movies could use better actors (I make it a black day when the casting director of movie one was hired). I wonder that they're casting her now, though, when Azkaban is coming out in early July.. oh, well ^^; I really am looking forward to Azkaban; I heard that Alfonso Cuaron is a very good director (though I haven't actually seen 'Y Tu Mama Tambien'), and whatever the case, he can't be worse than Christopher Colombus, whose movies are as stupid and deranged as his namesake ("YES, I REACHED INDIA").

School really, really sucks (aren't I articulate?), I've been feeling very stressed, and I've really been quite unpleasant to be around at the best of times. I try to be happy. I try to be cheerful. I try to be optimistic. But really, who gives a crap about any of those things when you get an F on a Calculus exam with a curve? I sure as hell don't.

Oh, yeah, we had a quiz in Spanish today where we were to conjugate twenty verbs in the preterite AND imperfect forms in five minutes (which is, pretty much, like conjugating forty verbs in three hundred seconds). I got a B+ on that, which isn't bad - at least I did all the problems. The guy whose test I corrected only finished about sixteen verb conjugations, two of which he got wrong anyhow. Don't you love life? And that was most of the class, anyhow.

She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named on my blog keeps coming back. She insisted to me that if she sat with my lunch group, she wouldn't be hanging out with me, really, she'd be hanging out with them. Her logic - or lack thereof - has long failed me. I told her that she really had to leave (I don't even bother asking with a "please" anymore, these days I just yell), and Nicole swore up and down she'd get a restraining order.

I talked with Ashley from my Biology class, actually, and it seems that her group of friends is one of the other groups that She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named pesters. It really is truly sad and pathetic; though Ashley says she's never done it (and I believe her), some of her friends actually beat up on She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named in order to make her go away. Damn, no wonder she tries to hang out with us. Unfortunately, our pity does not extend to her ruining our lunches for the rest of junior year, so out she goes.

I was talking with some friends about Winter Formal, and a say a big group of our friends all go :) I'm already going with my two S friends, but it'll be great if lots of us go. Besides, it's not coronation with the donning of crowns on two blonde teenagers. Plus, the tickets are really pretty cheap (like in the twenties). So I say we go, and I say we start all planning to go so that we can all take up a table at Castaways :) I have small ambitions.

Weird fact: the reason cyanide kills people is because it kills of the mitochondria in the cells so that they cannot produce ATP. ATP is energy, and without energy, the cells cannot function so they pretty much just go *PFFT* and die. I learned this in biology class. Actually, I've been researching ways to kill a person for a story I'm writing, and so I was really quite curious as to how this worked. Handy, huh? (Although I really need symptoms, not why it kills..)

Another weird fact: in my favorite series of trash books, the In Death series, Eve Dallas is a Lt. for the NYPSD - New York Police and Security Department. Yes, it's in the year 2059, but is there really an added "Security" in there?

Speaking of which, the next book in that series, Divided in Death, comes out in January... but someone already has an advanced copy and is selling it on Ebay, and it'll probably go for over sixty bucks, the butthead. I read a description on Nora Roberts' messageboard (I'm descending to new lows), and it mentions something about a "trusted employee" of Eve's husband's company, and it's a woman. I wonder if he's slept with her :P a lot of his former lovers pop up since he was such a playboy. It's always amusing, but it's a lot more amusing when it's one of her former lovers. (The last one of hers, he punched out.)

I told Andrew the train story and I don't think he liked it. XD

Anyway, I'll blog more sometime. For the record, I am milking my DSL connection, even if I can't access a lot of servers on mIRC yet because of my stupid router, but oh well. And a big thank you to Andrew for lending me Super Mario Sunshine, heh heh ^^ it was too easy to beat and far too short, but it was enjoyable. (But I wanna get all the shines first.) Plus, you have YOSHI IN THIS GAME! AHAHAHAHAHA!

.. Eh-hem. I want Pikmin II, but it doesn't come out until May. Anyone wanna recommend a game cube game? (And no, NOT Soul Caliber II, Earl.)

Spoken words: 20 have fallen.

It may not be a fleeting honor, but utopias are doubtful. That's one wrong answer, not two. Same goes for another I got wrong -- Clowns are benevolent, but Rebecca Nurse isn't capricious. I got both of them wrong instead of only the Rebecca Nurse one, which I got wrong because I didn't really read the play yet. That Crucible question should'nt have been on the vocabulary test in the first place.

Nazi Teachers.

You read strange manga. I don't care for your excuses, you do.

Soul Calibur 2. Soul Calibur 2. Soul Calibur 2.

The ONLY good Gamecube game out is Soul Calibur 2. In a month or two, the other good Gamecube game will be F-Zero GX!!

Dictionary.com says that Ytterbium is: soft, bright, silvery rare-earth element... There's more, but it's boring.

After taking the History mid-term, I have no idea how I did. Cheerful.

Yes! Emma Thompson rocks! That makes, what... the fifth film she's worked on with Alan Rickman? Lucky woman. And where in the canon, O Potter Goddess, is the basis for that running fanfic joke that Trelawney fancies Snape? I don't get it.

I'm looking forward to Azkaban as well, even though I hear there won't be a boggart scene. Tear.

About Winter Formal: I hear (yeah, I don't live life, I just have people tell me about it) that the food at Castaway's makes people sick. Just a small issue, but still.

That story you're writing sounds interesting. There's a mystery novel (Strong Poison by Dorothy L. Sayers) in which a mystery writer is suspected of killing her poet lover with a certain poison because she had researched it extensively for her book. So tell your poet lover to watch himself.

Cuál es el train story?

Christina, I love how the first thing that you say after how Emma Thompson rocks is the film count of movies she's been in with Rickman. I know you've got your priorities straight :P

I looked around for the Trelawney-Snape joke (never heard of it myself), and it's not in the canon so far as I can recall, so I'm pretty sure it must be a fanfic world joke. I try not to hang around the HP fanfic world too much, though, I really only come back to it right before a new book. ^^; Wrong person for this. I guess I lose my goddess status.

Azkaban is thus far missing the boggart scene (all *I* want is Rickman in a dress, you know) and Oliver Wood (taking away Sean Biggerstaff [what a name]). :( That's quite depressing. But whatever, I just want the movie to be GOOD.

Winter Formal: food could've been better, could've been worse. It wasn't the buffet at WF (you actually get delivered plates)... and besides, I think watching a crowning ceremony is far more dangerous to one's health. :P But I didn't get sick. It's just not the tastiest food in the world, that's all. I was fine ^^ besides, I spent more time dancing anyway. (Or attempting such.)

That sounds fun! (Murdering my poet lover, that is.) Well, I'll keep that in mind for one day ("Really, detective, I was researching this for my book! It's a coincidence that my lover died of this extremely rare and obscure poison as well!")... I just need unusual ways to die at this point. It's a fantasy novel, so part of me wants to just have someone go "PAH!" and have the other person sag over and die, but one must have other ways as well.

The train story? Oh, yes, the train story. I'll have to talk about this to you on AIM one of these days. *cackles*

I think I did okay on the midterm.. at least a B, possibly an A. I'll be extremely depressed if I get a C, but I doubt I did. *studied*

Back to ID's.

All of your comments suck, they're too long.

Posted by andrew @ 10/07/2003 10:07 PM PST

soul calibur 2. get that. not Pikmin 2. it's the same as pikmin 1

Posted by augusto @ 10/07/2003 10:55 PM PST

Yeah, it sucks too.

Posted by andrew @ 10/07/2003 11:15 PM PST

I never see Janice. This is the first time I've spoken to her in days. So what I guess what I'm really trying to say here is... bite me.

Posted by Christina @ 10/08/2003 06:11 AM PST

Where would you like me to bite you?

Posted by Spencer @ 10/08/2003 04:20 PM PST

Can I be next?

Posted by andrew @ 10/08/2003 09:28 PM PST

Is there a queue on my blog for this or something?

Do you mind hot sauce, Christina?

Posted by Janice @ 10/08/2003 11:16 PM PST

You guys had better mean that in a sexual way. Otherwise I'm going to feel violated.

And Christina wins again!
